When I tell people I eat algae, I usually get a startled reaction.  Some people laugh, some oogle in disgust, some joke, but most end up trying it anyway.  I hope the information on this page helps you understand blue-green algae's benefits to our health.

BGA is an organic, whole food, rich in vitamins and minerals of which most of us are in desperate need. This algae is more nutritionally complete than other types of artificially grown algae, such as spirulina.  It contains over 200 times more betacarotene than broccoli or alfalfa.  It is rich in chelated minerals, pantothenic acid, choline, folic acid, protein, essential and non-essential amino acids, essential fatty acids, chlorophyll, and vitamins.  It's like taking a complete multi-vitamin, but better--it's organic, and is a whole food, so it's used more efficiently by the body.  BGA does not contain Vitamin D.  The best source of Vitamin D is the sun.  (The Vitamin D in cow's milk is added artificially).

The algae comes in two forms: Alpha Sun, which is the whole algae, and Omega Sun, which has the cell walls broken. Alpha Sun shows greater physical effects, such as more energy, etc. Omega Sun seems to show more mental effects, such as helping with depression, etc.
