"What if you provided some low-key rock to listen to as you explored sophisticated pages about classic American fire engines, steamship lines, Baja California, and the best collection of links we've seen yet, including a remarkable list of other locations that you can search or submit your own Web site to. And you called it....212.net? Well, that would be whatis.com second coolest site." - Lowell/whatis.com.

"DIAL 212 FOR INFORMATION - Experienced netsurfers by now are completely used to - and bored by - Internet indices. A few main ones (you yahoos know which they are) dominate zillions of smaller ones. Presenting an alternative, 212.net has cast their hat into the Net index ring with a site featuring just a hint of attitude. The sites listed are grouped into several high-level categories, such as "fresh" (new stuff), "practical" (Net stuff) and "intellectual" (zines, e- or otherwise). The 212.net site, with its organized appearance and a listing of some of the Net's most interesting sites, is definitely not the worst thing to happen to the Net. Its almost snobby attitude and pick-your-own soundtrack certainly make it original. You'll either love it or hate it." - Netsurfer Digest
"I love the 212 site...it's a great romp through pop culture." - Michael, juno.com
Lifestyle.UK - "212.net - Entertaining e-zine with an eclectic range of subjects providing the information you need to cope with modern life."
212.net is an intriguing and eclectic fun time.
Keep up the great work!

I'm writing the web directory section of a book titled "The
Official America Online Guide to the Internet, 2nd edition." This
section showcases interesting and important websites and I'd like to
feature 212.net.

Total Recall
Trying to imagine a time after Total New York is
unthinkable ....As Total’s editor and site director from its
inception until the summer of 1996, I remember the formative
sessions in John Borthwick’s living room with the rest of the
founding crew, talking about this site we wanted to build and
what it might be called. 212?
Total, ultimately, was about exploration, expression and growth,
about pushing the boundaries and making a difference, about
using your head and following your gut. It was then. And it is
now.

I am co-authoring a series of books for Rockport Publishing
addressing the best in web design. The screenshots will be
the predominant elements on each page. They are large
format, glossy coffee table books.
In searching for well-designed and executed sites, I came
across your site at 212.net. I would love to feature your
site in the Color publication. Very, very rowdy.
Cheers,
Toby Malina
As a breed, we New Yorkers need a lot of stimulation just to
keep from getting bored...and then we feed ourselves with
information to entertain our over stimulated minds. Here it
is plain and simple...if you're from NY (or you just
wannabe)...then go to 212.net. There you'll find (as they call it)
a melting pot of information.
With prodigious amounts of original content spread across 8 sections, including
massive quantities of movie reviews, and articles covering...well...everything...you
have to hand it to the 212 staff for living up to my expectations of what a New
York site should include. They even have enough sophistication to present it all in a
visually stimulating way...and you know that I'm usually the last person to
compliment site design...it's the web elitist in me.
Then to top it off, they have enough links in each section to
keep you surfing for hours in all directions. So much so that
I would tell you to make it your default homepage...
So much to read and so many places to go (the search
section is a virtual meta-search engine)! It reminds me of
home! Only now, instead of getting wound up with no
concrete city streets to pound out my angst, I just turn my
browser to 212.net and get a dose of pure edgy distraction
(that means entertainment), New York style. Now if I could just figure out a way
to get a fresh bagel delivered to Junction City I would really be able to relax.
